JOB PROFILE

Bevco is looking for someone to play a key role our crating, yard maintenance and shipping/receiving departments.  The Crating Lead / Shipping Assistant is responsible for building our wood skids and crates and packing our finished equipment effectively in crates to ensure safe shipment across North America.  This individual will also be responsible for maintaining our yard and our waste and recycling programs and will assist with shipping, receiving and inventory activities.

 

HOURS

Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (regular hours)

Friday: 7:00 AM to 3:15PM (overtime on an as-needed basis)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely use woodworking tools, such as circular saws, chop saws, hammers, nail guns, staple gun, etc., to fabricate large wood crates and skids for shipment of equipment
  • Arrange, strap and tie down equipment and parts components within crates to ensure safe shipment of equipment
  • Check equipment crates versus shipping lists and drawings prior to buttoning up to ensure all equipment sections, additional parts and project documents are inside the crate
  • Prepare crating paperwork prior to shipment
  • Coordinate with engineering to document crated equipment by photograph prior to buttoning up
  • Monitor inventory of crating supplies and inform Purchasing when supplies are low

 

Yard and Plant Maintenance

  • Monitor access to yard via gate and maintain security
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard, crate building area and warehouse building
  • Breakdown unused pallets and neatly stockpile in designated areas
  • Use Bevco truck and trailer to carry out local pick-ups and disposal runs
  • Assist with building maintenance activities within capabilities
  • Monitor food waste bins and change out bags for disposal as needed
  • Manage Bevco’s recycling storage and paper shredding areas
  • Check and replenish bathroom supplies daily

 

Shipping-Receiving-Inventory Support

  • Assist Shipper-Receiver with loading and unloading incoming/outgoing shipments
  • Operate forklift as needed
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks
  • Inspect incoming inventory and cross reference with packing slips
  • Unpackage and move incoming inventory into warehouse
  • Assist with packaging of parts orders
  • Assist with inventory counts and periodic cycle counts
  • Assist with the preparation of shipping and receiving paperwork

 

Other

  • Assist in other areas of production as needed, such as general labour, metal fabrication, plastics fabrication and mechanical assembly.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • High School Diploma

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience safely using hand tools, skill saw, chop saw, nail gun
  • Tape measure accuracy
  • Heavy lifting and other physical labour
  • Forklift operation (certification provided by Bevco)
  • Valid BC drivers license
  • Ability to drive a truck with a trailer is an asset
  • Ability to read basic drawings
